Organic Coffee

Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Colombia are just a few of the many Latin American coffee producing countries. These countries have an urgent need for access to the tools and the techniques necessary to sustain the environment through the application of organic agriculture.

Colombia is a country that has lost many of its farmers to the planting of illicit crops. We believe, therefore, that Colombia, as a country, will benefit from the support provided by Latin Organics™ customers and partners. Distributed throughout 590 municipalities within the Colombian territory are 560,000 families that depend upon coffee agriculture. These families represent 22% of the total rural employment within Colombia.

Over 20% of the world’s bird species live in Colombia. These birds make their homes in the tropical forests that form a canopy over the coffee plants. Unlike plantations that are totally cleared for coffee farming, shade grown coffee continues to respect both wildlife and environment while providing farmers with a sustainable agricultural option.

There are seven different growing regions, with distinct geography, that share very specific weather conditions and soil quality. These areas, with their specific climatic conditions have an impact on the quality profiles of the coffee produced. The coffee growing activities in Colombia are focused on the middle elevations of the exuberant landscapes of the Andean Mountains that divide up into three smaller areas called Western Mountain Range, Central Mountain Range and Eastern Mountain Range. Additionally, there are three important mountain formations where coffee is cultivated at higher altitudes. These mountains are known as "Sierras" and the coffee beans from here are well known to produce a cup with low acidity.

Latin Organics™ chose to launch its brand with a spiritual coffee from one of these coastal "Sierras". The coffee is named according to its origin, Coastal Peak. In this coastal region, ancestral tradition and wisdom are applied to create spiritual Arabica coffee beans that invite you to reconnect with your roots. The cup of coffee can be described as having a hint of sweet, smooth, rich notes. It is a full bodied cup with low acidity. Not only will you have a spiritual experience but you will be directly supporting an indigenous group that is at risk of losing their traditions and heritage.
